We are a friendly and active church with members and friends throughout
the Gryffe Valley in west central Scotland. Visitors are always very welcome at our public worship services
at 1030 each Sunday in the Carrick Centre, Houston.
A wide variety of other events occur throughout the week.
We are a Christian church
- The Church of the Nazarene is a mainline Christian denomination.
Its doctrine is similar to that of the Methodists.
- The Church of the Nazarene receives its name from a title given to
Jesus Christ in the Gospels ("Jesus the Nazarene", Matthew2v23),
so the name signifies a people who love and follow Jesus Christ.
- The Church of the Nazarene began in 1908. World-wide it has 1.3 million members and 12,000 churches.
In the United Kingdom there are 100 churches with over 4,000 members and many regular visitors.
We are a community church
- Our church runs weekly children's activities in local schools,
friendship and support groups in local homes, and public activities in the Carrick Centre.
- Our Church holds its public services in the Carrick Centre, Main Street,
Houston at 10.30 a.m. on Sundays.
We are a caring church
- We offer practical support and help, including pastoral visitation,
as an expression of our love and concern.
- We offer the Grapevine Ministry as a practical compassionate work
to help those who are in need.
