Houston Primary School pupils in P3 and P4 are
invited to join the Storykeepers Club
from 1500 to 1630 on Monday afternoons.
This popular extra-curricular activity combines animated cartoon,
craft, games, songs, refreshments, and quizzes to bring the children into the
world of first century Rome.
Storykeepers is a video series created for children
that tells the story of Ben the Baker and his wife Helena who are
Christians in Rome at the time of Nero's persecutions (64 AD).
Ben and Helena have adopted four children whose parents were lost
in the fires set by Emperor Nero.
The hope-giving stories and parables of Jesus are told
in the course of their amazing and exciting adventures.
The club is organised and run by members of Houston Church of the Nazarene.
The stories were written by Methodist minister Rev Brian Brown and
Dr Andrew Melrose, lecturer in Writing for Children at King Alfred's College, Winchester.
Video by Shepherd Films Ltd of Dublin
can be sampled at storykeepers.com and
Storykeepers books by
Paternoster
and stories in DVD or VHS formats can be found at Wesley Owen
and other local suppliers.
To date, 200 children have participated in Houston and Bridge of Weir. Parents may find out more by contacting the school.
